iPad / Tablet Dash Install – Version 1

My friend challenged me to see if I could build a iPad Dash Kit for his 12.9″ iPad Pro to mount it in his Silverado. This is the first version of that kit! Be sure to check out the Updated 2nd Version!

Prototype 1

The original version was designed to be printed in 2 pieces and then glued together. It had 2 hinges and 2 springs to pop the tablet out.

Prototype 2

I got a an Ender Extender Kit and was able to print the holder out of one piece. I designed version 2 with the focus on mounting the tablet, creating a usable cubby and relocating the climate controls.

Prototype 3

I figured out the dimensions and worked on designing the cubby to be more printable, as well as added spots to plastic weld the parts together instead of screws.

Prototype 4

Started really honing in the design and simplifying it.

Prototype 5

I began focusing on the assembly and clearances for the body panels, I also decided to remove the cubby.

Prototype 7

I added the tabs for the faceplate
